Tenino Middle School’s Festive Door Decoration Tradition
Each holiday season, Tenino Middle School transforms the halls into a beautiful art gallery as homerooms compete to decorate their classroom doors. This annual tradition not only adds cheer but it also allows students to collaborate and show school spirit.
This year, the theme was " board games with a holiday twist." The door competition allows students to use their imagination and teamwork, as they plan and decorate their doors together.
1st Place: Mrs. Stage - The Game of LIFE
2nd Place: Mrs. Harris - Operation
3rd Place: Mrs. Hocutt - Christmas Scrabble
Our community and parent engagement committee and Tenino Market Fresh partnered up and brought new dimensions to our door decorating event. Teninos' local store offered to donate five pizzas to the class with the best decorated door, raising the stakes. The judging panel included dedicated staff Maureen Goldsmith, Pattey Hoff, and Rand Hodgson alongside Martina Munz from Tenino Market Fresh, who added a special local connection.
During the decorating process you could hear students laughing and taking on leadership roles. Not only is this a fun way for the kids to get out of the classroom but it allows essential social skills that go beyond the classroom.
The holiday door decoration contest at TMS brings out how tradition, creativity and community can combine to create lasting impact and memories. TMS would like to thank Tenino Market Fresh for donating pizza to the winners, and being a judge. We would also like to thank our other three judges, along with all of our amazing students and staff who took part in this fun little competition. We truly have an amazing school filled with awesome students and staff.

Last year, the first two weeks of Oct saw 375 tardies and this year the same two weeks only saw 84. Thank you for your help in encouraging them to get to class on time to get their education!
