Mr. Heintz's 5th grade class had fun with this project! Using wood rounds that were donated by families in the class, students designed and painted ornaments to take home! What a fun project and great way to transition into Winter Break! Thanks for sharing Mr. Heintz!
Tenino School District staff members are finding ways to bridge the funding gap to help enrich and enhance our students' educational experiences. One way to accomplish this is by applying for grants.
We are excited to announce several PES staff members and one TES staff member who received mini-grants from the Thurston County School Retirees' Association. Congratulations to PES staff: Karla Zehm ($100), Raelynn Goodwin ($100), Kristi Schow ($100) and Colleen Taylor ($250) and TES staff: Samantha Lawton ($100).
In addition, Kathy Slease and Karla Zehm were each awarded $200 from the TwinStar Credit Union Classroom Cash Grant.

Mrs. Moldenhauer's 3rd grade class has been enjoying some guest readers this month! The books that our guests are reading include all different holidays - Kwanza, Hanukkah, Diwali, and Christmas. Thank you to all who have volunteered!!
The Tenino Timberland Library is hosting another creative First Fridays Event for Elementary Aged Kids on Dec. 6th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm, using watercolors to design Faux Batiks on paper.
It's a lovely way to spend some time!!
Pizza with the Principal!!
8 students participated in "Pizza with the Principal" last Friday as a PBIS reward that they earned by buying this opportunity from our Tiger Store with their hard earned Tiger Paws. Great conversation and yummy pizza were enjoyed by all.

Halloween Festivities at TES yesterday!!
Don't forget about the upcoming Rolled Paper crafting at Tenino Library. Please note that glue guns will be used in this project, so younger children will need adult supervision.

On Friday , TES 4th grade students participated in a hands on learning experience by dissecting squid as part of the Living Things Science Unit. Teacher Rebecca Perez led the demonstration and instruction. Thank you to all the volunteer parent/guardian helpers.
October is #NationalPrincipalAppreciation month and we're going to celebrate each of them throughout the month! In our principal spotlight today is Mrs. Jen Van De Wege, our amazing principal at Tenino Elementary! While Mrs. Van De Wege is entering only her second year in Tenino, she has been in education for 28 years! We are so happy to have her positivity, energy and leadership in our community! Thanks for all you do!

Election Day is coming up. If you need a little help with the ballot, the Tenino Library staff is there to help. The library is open an additional day from 8 am - 8 pm on Mondays to assist with Voter ballots only. The library is also open for business during regular library hours. Tenino Elementary 4th grade students gathered to watch Mr. Edmonds dissect a cow eye as part of their Living Things Science Unit. This demonstration was to prepare the students for their upcoming hands on learning experience dissecting squid.
On September 18, 2024 TES had their first Celebration Assembly where they recognized students who exemplified the character trait "RESPECT: Accepting others for who they are, even when they are different from you, or you do not agree with them." Special guest Cheeto the Tiger made an appearance to cheer on the students.
On Saturday, Oct. 12th, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., the Tenino Library is hosting another awesome event, "Clay Play"! Get creative with an air dry clay. Come one come all - this event is open to all ages.
